Dr. Lolli Haws has served as superintendent of the Racine Unified School District since July 2013. During her tenure the District has made significant progress toward improving quality, perception and student achievement in RUSD schools.

Haws is committed to championing courageous and innovative initiatives that advance education for RUSD students. The District’s Strategic Plan, Raising Racine 2022, focuses on continuous improvement processes and measurable short and long term goals to attain ambitious priorities in achievement, culture and climate, partnerships and fiscal and operational excellence. Under Haws’ leadership, key District transformational work includes: transforming RUSD comprehensive high schools into the Academies of Racine, career and college pathways, garnering community support to pass a $128 million referendum, construction of four new schools, and working with input from every employee to establish District Core Values.

Prior to coming to Racine, Haws served as an instructional superintendent for the District of Columbia Public Schools in Washington, D.C. Prior to that, Haws served six years as a principal in Arlington, VA., and ten years as principal in an inner-suburban St. Louis, MO district.

Haws received a bachelor’s degree in elementary education and special education from Augustana University in Sioux Falls, SD; a master’s degree in reading from Southern Illinois University Edwardsville; and a Ph.D. in educational administration from St. Louis University in St. Louis, MO.
